A jewelry valuation is an estimate of what your piece may be worth based on the photos and details you provide. The more information you share, the more accurate your valuation will be. For many people, jewelry value has traditionally felt like a black box, and we want to change that. A valuation gives you an up-to-date picture of your jewelry’s worth as gold and silver prices fluctuate, helping you understand how it contributes to your overall financial profile.

How is a jewelry valuation calculated?

We review the photos you provide and the additional information you share, including any visible markings, the metal type, and the style of the piece. When certain details are missing, our system uses standard assumptions to fill in the gaps.

The clearer your images and the more accurate your details, the more precise your valuation will be. If you decide to sell your piece to Unvault, we’ll complete a professional in-person authentication. Note that the final value may differ from the original estimate based on our findings.

How can a jewelry valuation be used?

Your valuation becomes part of your digital portfolio. Many customers use it to understand the value of what they own, track changes over time, and make informed decisions about selling—similar to how you might monitor stocks in the market.

If you decide to sell through Unvault, your valuation serves as the starting point. The final offer is shared after we complete professional authentication and review any applicable platform fees.

Is the valuation the amount I will receive if I sell?

The valuation is the best estimate based on the information you provided. You can refine it anytime by updating your photos or details. If you choose to sell, we use this estimate as the starting point and then finalize the value after we weigh, test, and authenticate your item. After your item is weighed, tested, and authenticated, the final value may differ. Before moving forward, we’ll confirm the final price with you so you can decide whether to proceed with the sale or have your item shipped back to you.

 What items does Unvault buy?

We buy gold, silver, and platinum jewelry. We do not buy loose gemstones, pearls, semi-precious stones, lab-grown diamonds, or plated or filled items. Examples of semi-precious stones include amethyst, rose quartz, and jade.

How long does the full process take?

Most customers see the full journey completed in 4 to 12 days. FedEx shipping takes about 2 to 7 days, depending on the route. Once your package arrives, authentication takes 1 to 3 business days, and payment is made within 1 business day after you accept the final offer.

Is it safe to ship an item?

Yes. FedEx is a highly reputable partner for insured shipments, and we use them because of their reliability and detailed tracking. We will send you an insured shipping label to the email address you provide.

How is an item authenticated? 

After we receive your item, we perform a comprehensive authentication using professional testing. This process includes physical authentication, metal purity testing, gemstone grading, and precise weight verification.

We record the authentication on video and share it with you along with the final valuation. You can then choose to sell your item at that price or pay to have it shipped back to you. Our goal is full transparency so you feel comfortable at every step.

What if I decide not to sell after you authenticate the item?

You are always in control. If the final offer does not feel right, we ship your item back safely with the required insurance.

What is the platform fee?

Our platform fee ranges from 15 to 20 percent, depending on the item, and is always clearly shown in your final offer.

Can I send multiple items?

Yes. You can send multiple pieces. In some cases, we may ask you to separate shipments due to insurance limits. We guide you gently if that applies.

Can I send items with diamonds or gemstones?

Yes. We authenticate diamonds and gemstones when they arrive. The quality, treatment or authenticity can affect the final value and we communicate this openly.

Is my information secure?

Yes. Your photos and personal information are stored securely. We do not sell or share your data.

Can I get money quickly if I need it?

Unvault is not a same-day payout service. Because shipping and authentication take time, this is not the best option for urgent cash needs.
